Not only that, but Iris instigated a food drive at her school: City of London School for Girls, which brought in a staggering 2100 food items over just five days.

“Food poverty and work at the foodbank has become a really big part of my life”, explains Iris. “I was asked to write something for the Huffington Post as I’m part of the charity Free the Children (who regularly support foodbank drives). I decided to write about food poverty as a lot of people don’t know about anything about it”.

For the food drive, she encouraged the school to raise food, bringing in ‘shopping lists’. “We had a class competition to see which class could raise the most food. On the last day there were 2120 items.”
