Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind food banks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust food bank network get emergency food to people in crisis.
The safety of our volunteers is our top priority and as such, various measures have been put in place to protect all of our volunteers from the spread of Covid-19, including provision of hand sanitiser and PPE, and a new appointments-based system for clients to minimise the number of people at the food bank at any one time.
Warehouse volunteers (Saturday morning/afternoon)
We need help to prepare and hand out food bags on Saturday afternoon shifts. You could help in this vital work to ensure that we deliver food to clients.
Client-facing volunteers (Saturday morning)
We need volunteers to help us greet clients and allocate the right food parcels. This is a vital role ensuring a friendly face at reception and smooth running of distribution.
We will need all volunteers to commit to volunteering regularly for at least six months.
If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected] mentioning which role you are interested in and which shifts you are available for. If you have concerns about safety, please include these in your email and we will try to provide more information.
