Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind food banks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust food bank network get emergency food to people in crisis.
The safety of our volunteers is our top priority and as such, various measures have been put in place to protect all of our volunteers from the spread of Covid-19, including provision of hand sanitiser and PPE, and a new appointments-based system for clients to minimise the number of people at the food bank at any one time.
Warehouse volunteers (Saturday afternoons)
We need help to weigh, sort and store food and make into parcels for clients to collect on Saturday afternoon shifts. You could help in this vital work to ensure we have the right food available at all times.
Client-facing volunteers (Monday mornings and afternoons)
We need help to meet clients, discuss their needs and give them their food bags on Monday afternoon shifts. You could help in this vital work to ensure that we deliver food to clients.
Stock controller volunteer (Monday mornings)
We need help to weigh, sort and store food in our warehouse so that it can easily be made into food parcels for clients. This role will help the food bank minimise wastage of food stocks and ensure we can continue to deliver food to clients.
We will need all volunteers to commit to volunteering regularly for at least six months.
If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected] mentioning which role you are interested in and which shifts you are available for. If you have concerns about safety, please include these in your email and we will try to provide more information.
