Highbury Fields parkrun supports the foodbank for their fifth birthday on November 12

2nd November 2016

November 12th will be Highbury Fields parkrun’s fifth birthday!

To celebrate the occasion, this year Highbury Fields parkrun will be supporting the Islington Foodbank. They are asking runners to bring along donations, which will be collected before and after the run. The foodbank is only a hundred yards away from the fields and much like parkrun is an important link in the community.

The 5km run takes place every week, staffed by volunteers and anybody from the community is encouraged to join for free, whether to enjoy a run, build fitness or chase your personal best.

The parkrun team have given runners the following advice:

“Tinned foods and cereals are always in high demand, but we welcome any dried goods as long as they are in date. If you’re unsure what’s suitable to bring, check here.

If you want to bring along any food items please do so. There is absolutely no compulsion to do so, please don’t feel pressured to bringing something along, or worse not coming along at all.

As always, the run starts at 09:00 and runners are recommended to arrive by 08:40. See you there!”

Parkrun relies on volunteers to run successfully, so if you are interested in volunteering or contributing ideas to the food drive, please tweet @highburyparkrun or email [email protected].
