Foodbank partnering with Arsenal for matchday food collection

7th April 2019

Islington Foodbank is very proud to be working with Arsenal Football Club on a food drive this Easter. The food drive takes place outside Emirates Stadium on Easter Sunday, 21 April, when Gunners supporters will be arriving for the Premier League Match against Crystal Palace.

“The Islington Foodbank is very close to the Emirates stadium, so not surprisingly quite a few of our clients and volunteers are Gunners’ fans”, said Kathy Weston, a Foodbank volunteer. “We’re all very excited that Arsenal is partnering with us for this food drive, and we hope that Gunners supporters’ pre-match generosity will be rewarded with a thumping home win!”

Commenting on its collaboration with the Foodbank, Supporter Liaison Officer Mark Brindle from Arsenal said: “We supported Islington Foodbank last Christmas where we asked staff to donate food. It went so well we thought it would be a great idea to extend this to our fans. We are always looking for ways to support the local community and enlisting the help of our supporters is a great way of doing this.”

We hope that this drive will mark the beginning of a long-term collaboration with the Gunners. And, if you have a ticket to the game, please bring along one of the following to donate:

  • Chocolate bars
  • Instant coffee
  • Pasta sauce
  • Tinned rice pudding
  • Tinned fruit
  • Tinned fish
  • Shower gel
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
