Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Islington Foodbank has taken the difficult decision to close to the public after Monday 23rd March. While we are closed, we will be directing our clients to the following alternative sources:

The Pilion Trust

The Pilion Trust is a local charity who run a number of projects including a food bank in partnership with the Alexander Wylie Tower Foundation. The food bank gives away fresh produce fruit, vegetables, bread and pastries daily. It is a drop-in service based at 60 Lough Rd, N7 8FE. It is open every weekday from 10am – 5pm and you can contact them on 020 7700 2498.

The Andover Community Centre

The Andover Community Centre, also known as the Finsbury Park Hub runs a service called the Surplus Food Project which is now offering take-away bags of food. They will receive some of Islington Foodbank’s stock after we close on Monday. It is a drop-in service based at Andover Community Centre, Andover Estate, Corker Walk, N7 7RY. It is open from 1:30pm – 5pm every Friday and you can contact them on 020 7272 3493.

The Islington branch of SVP are a befriending charity and offer a home delivery service for food parcels, picking up prescriptions and dog walking. They are also now operating a food bank on Saturdays between 1pm and 2pm at St Joan of Arc Church, 60 Highbury Park, N5 2XH. They will receive our food donations from supermarkets collection bins until we reopen. You can contact them on 07516 690197.

Anyone who gets in touch with us while we are closed who is in need of help will be directed to these charities. In addition, our voucher partners who refer clients to us have also been made aware of these alternatives to direct people too. Islington Foodbank are running a campaign called “We are Islington” to help residents during this period. If you need help, you can contact them on their dedicated helpline, 0207 527 8222.

If you want to offer help to your local community during this time, Islington Council are coordinating volunteers for various local groups including SVP and you can sign up here. You can also join your local Covid-19 Mutual Aid group
